| | Jaro Wex Jaro received his BA degree in biology from Amherst College in the US. He qualified as a medical doctor and subsequently gained his PhD in economics at Warsaw School of Economics. In his dissertation he proposed financial solutions to improve efficiency of health systems by creating incentives for investment in cost-effective interventions. Jaro worked at public and private health insurance institutions, but his main expertise is in evidence based medicine, in economic evaluation of drugs for industry submission, and in modelling preventive interventions. Having gained analytical experience at HTA Consulting and as Principal Health Economist at Cardiff Research Consortium, as well as from collaboration with WMHTAC, University of Birmingham, Jaro founded Pharmarchitecture and is now the director of the company. | | Konrad Duc Konrad studied medicine at the Bialystok Medical School in Poland, where he obtained his diploma. Since his student years he has been particularly attracted to the exploration of the complexities of the cardiovascular system, expanding his knowledge and experience through active participation in research groups and in the clinical work in cardiac surgery, cadiac imaging, general internal medicine, intensive care and cardiology departments. His research and work has taken him to Belgium, The Nethelands and Germany. He completed his residency and obtained his consultant diploma in internal medicine, as well as a diploma in emergency medicine, at the Görlitz City Hospital in Görlitz, Germany, where he works in the field of geriatric cardiology and acute medicine. At Pharmarchitecture Konrad provides clinical insights from daily practice in the context of Evidence Based Medicine. |
| | Stefanie Schoppen Stefanie graduated from University of Kiel (Germany) in Nutrition Science and Economics (Ecotrophology). She then joined the Group of Mineral Bioavailability in the Institute of Nutrition and Bromatology of the Spanish Council for Research (CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. Her PhD dissertation, which she completed in the Department of Nutrition in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Complutense University of Madrid, investigated the effects of bicarbonated sodium rich mineral waters on cardiovascular risk and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. During her work in the Department of Metabolism and Nutrition in the “Instituto del Frío” of the CSIC in Madrid, she worked on several clinical nutritional intervention projects of dietary and mineral water intake, iron bioavailability and anaemia. She was also involved in a multicentre intervention study in obesity and cardiovascular disease research in adolescents. Currently she is a Research Fellow in the Lipid Research Unit of the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital in Madrid, working in a large-scale population study in Spain examining cardiovascular risk factors (traditional, novel and genetic) in adolescents in four large metropolitan areas of the country. Stefanie also lectures nutrition in graduate and post-graduate seminars and courses. At Pharmarchitecture Stefanie shares her diverse research experience and epidemiological expertise. |
